This Week at SCS September 8 through 13
September 8, 2008 by Ms.Crissi.
Good morning!
We’ll continue to watch Ike through the week and I’ll give updates as needed. There are a couple of websites I really like to watch: www.crownweather.com/ike.html and accuweather.com. We’ll know more later in the week!
On the calendar, it shows that we will be closed this Thursday through Saturday for training. However, because of the impending storm, we have changed our plans and will be open for those days. I repeat. SCS Sport Karate will be open Thursday through Saturday of this week!
This is Spotlight Week! If your name is on the Eligibility list and you have enough classes, you are eligible to test for your new belt this week! Please check your attendance card! Don’t forget to turn in your Belt Promotion Form by next Tuesday, September 16th! It must be completed and signed by both a parent and a teacher (for those students in grade school).
This Friday night is our Retro Dance Party! Students ages 7 - 14 can come dressed in their most fun outfit. Be sure to request some songs at the front desk. It does not have to be a 60’s, 70’s or 80’s song. Bring a friend and have some fun! Admission is $3. We will have drinks and refreshments available from $0.50 to $2.00 each. Any parent who would like to bring a younger child may do so if you are staying with them. We welcome parents to act as chaperones and have fun with us!
Have an amazing day!
Osu!

Drinks and refreshments will be available 50 cents to $2.00 each. Dress up in your favorite 60’s, 70’s or 80’s outfit! Please sign up at the front desk if you plan on attending. You may also request music, which we will try to play at the dance. We’ll have games and fun! This dance is open to students ages 7 to 15. This Week at SCS September 2 through 6
September 2, 2008 by Ms.Crissi.
Dear SCS Families,
Looks like we dodged another bullet and we will continue to pray for those affected by Gustav and be mindful of the other storms in the Tropics which could be headed our way! The dojo in Robertsdale was spared any damage and we pray that your property was as well! We will continue to pray for those affected to the west of us by Hurricane Gustav.
First, we will be having classes today, Tuesday, September 2! Just a reminder of the class schedule (it’s the normal schedule, but I want to be sure to remind everyone as it is TUESDSAY, not MONDAY!)
- 4:00 Junior Intermediate & Advanced
- 4:45 Li’l Champions
- 5:30 Adult Beginners
- 6:15 Junior Beginners
- 7:00 Adult Intermediate & Advanced
Second, Friday is BBC Night! Juniors will be at 6:00 pm. The topic will be “Fun Surprise.” We encourage everyone, especially parents, to attend this important BBC Night. For Adults at 7:00 pm, the topic will be Real World Self-Defense. From what Sensei said earlier, we will be wearing regular clothes (not gis and belts) for this BBC Night. We’ll be covering ATM usage and more.
Demo Team: Be sure to get a handout from Ms. Crissi. Our first Demo Team A Practice is Friday at 5:00. (See handout for information on Demo Team A.)
SWAT Meeting: Saturday, September 6 at 10:30 am! Please let us know if you will not be there and why!
Kyoshi’s Message: Champions Decide In Advance
September 2, 2008 by Ms.Crissi.
Champions Decide in Advance!
Black Belt Champions know what they want and they decide in advance what actions
they are going to take to get it.
High achievers predict their future by creating it…everyday.
D.I.A.=>Decide in Advance…
Simply meaning to look into your future and decide exactly what you
want and what you are willing do to get it.
Achievers know that success isn’t a matter of luck, it is a matter of deciding what you want and then going for it. When you decide you want a life filled with health, wealth and happiness, you begin to attract all the things that lead you in the direction of your dreams.
Earl Nightingale says: “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”
The more you think about what you want in your future, whether you’re looking at tomorrow, the next few weeks or the next few years, the greater chance you have of making your life better.
The more you focus on the Champion you want to be, the more likely you will
become that Champion. Thoughts lead to Action…Actions lead to Results!
Black Belt Champions decide in advance that they are going to achieve greatness in the Martial Arts. Some seek higher levels of skills and ability in combative application, while
others seek excellence in their performance skills.
Either way, you must decide in advance what you want, and then commit to making it happen.
Do it now! Do it now! Do it now!
